On 26 August, we were alerted at 20:07 to several weather call-outs in the Vordernberg area after heavy rainfall.
Several rooms in two buildings had to be pumped out, one building was protected from the masses of mud and water with sandbags and several canals along the roads had to be cleared in order to absorb the masses of water.
The most dramatic emergency situation was on the B115 main road near Laurenti. Seven cars were trapped in a 30-50 cm high mass of mud and debris when the mudslide started at this point. The occupants were trapped in the vehicles as the doors could not be opened due to the mass. Fortunately, nobody was injured. The people and their vehicles were able to be freed from their awkward positions. This was possible in cooperation with the Vordernberg municipality and the logging company Rohrmoser, with the help of wheel loaders and a truck.
Our vehicles and equipment then had to be cleaned and we were able to return to operational readiness at 03:00.
