Due to Vordernberg's location in the middle of its blast furnaces and ore dumps, it became necessary to form an independent fire brigade in order to be able to guarantee its effectiveness and speed during emergencies.

On 14 February 1875, Mayor lgnaz Nouak and 62 volunteers came together to found the volunteer fire brigade in Vordernberg.
